I’ll be on the ballot during the primary in the 4th Senatorial district for Republican State Executive Committee. The Republican Party has many challenges facing it. I hope to be in a position to make a difference.
I would certainly appreciate the support of those in my district. As they say in Logan County, “Vote early and vote often!”

As I mentioned in a previous article, West Virginia is in pretty bad shape. But no matter how dire the situation, Democrats have no solution or any cognizance of a problem.
For instance, in the 8th District, the democratic nominees are Dave Higgins and Erik Wells. Wells wants the government to figure out how to turn coal into gasoline and Higgins wants a NASCAR track.
I’m for innovative uses of coal and for going in circles 180 times just as much as the next fellow, but neither ideas (which are central to each men’s campaign) will substantially help you and me today.
Erik hopes to turn coal into gas, but it looks like no one can turn a democrat into a problem-solver.

The Louisiana Senate did an admirable thing and passed a bill banning abortion. SB 33, sponsored by Senator Nevers, prohibits abortion except when necessary to save the life of the mother. It easily passed the Louisiana Senate on April 26th by a vote of 30 to 7.
An attempt was made, as expected, to amend rape and incest exceptions into the bill, but that amendment failed by a 21-17 margin. In the end, it was the calming resolve of Senator Nevers that resonated with his Senate colleagues.
The measure now resides in the House.
I wonder why the legislature in West Virginia cannot pass a similar bill. 25 of 34 senators are endorsed by the West Virginians for Life as being pro-life legislators. If 75% of the senate were truly pro-life, we would have a bill similar to Louisiana’s. Continually picking legislators who fail to protect the unborn makes the West Virginians for Life either naive or a front organization for the democrats to reelect their cronies. Pick your poison.

I passed a tanker truck used for hauling waste. On the side was inscribed, “Yesterday’s meals on wheels.” My aunt saw a tanker that said, “Number one in a number two business.” You have to love it when capitalism and a witty mind combines.
Have a great week!

I love the slogans! Those are great! Good luck on election day!
You know… Mr. Wells could lower the gas price… All he has to do is get the legislature to reduce the tax we pay on it.
Of course, that’ll never happen, but it’d be easier than making gas from coal.
Hi Stacey! Thanks for the well-wishes.
Good point about the taxes. West Virginia is ranked 18th highest in gas taxes and 49th in median income!
