Jim Lewis and his Patriots for Palestine

They say you should not write while angry. It has been several days since I read a recently published article by Jim Lewis comparing 9/11 victims to communist Fidel Castro and Israel to Nazi Germany. Needless to say, my anger has not yet abated.

You may wonder about the Patriots for Peace as they proudly jeer and curse behind a banner of the names of the brave soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Who are these people and what do they stand for? The article published by their liberal gang leader, Jim Lewis, tells you all you need know.

We all agree the ability to freely express differences of opinion is the sign of a healthy democracy, but Jim Lewis lost all credibility in his insidious comparisons. His article, complete with 60’s analogies, proves how far the Patriots for Peace and Jim Lewis have ensconced themselves into the far left of the left field. We’re talking so far left they are in the parking lot.

Is the fight on terrorism in the Middle East a success? Lewis quotes the biased Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, who calls it “destructive chaos.” This is from a man who declared that international terror is not religious, nor is it the fault of Muslims or Arabs, but their reaction to political injustices meted out by the “international community”.

As the Debka File points out, “…the Egyptian leader became the first Arab leader to say out loud what every Arab and Muslim ruler believes - that Islamic terror, including suicide homicides, is a justified means of venting their sense of injustice towards the non-Muslim world.”

Jim Lewis then gives us a few “figs to chew on.”

“Israel certainly has a right to defend itself. Who can argue with that? But bomb the Lebanon [sic] unmercifully? No way. We have crime in my end of town, but does that mean the police should begin pummelling [sic] the neighborhood with bombs because some drug addicts and criminals live among law-abiding people?”

In trying to dramatically make his point, Lewis omits a few crucial details:

1. The Lebanese has had many years to clear out the terrorists who boldly live within their borders and have done nothing. Even today they stand by as terrorists kill.
2. The terrorists are launching their grenades into Israel neighborhoods from Lebanon. What is Israel supposed to do? Stand by and let their women and children die in the rubble until Hezbollah enters Israeli land? Ridiculous!
3. Not only is Hezbollah launching rockets from Lebanon, they are doing it in crowded neighborhoods wearing street clothes.
4. Israel has consistently dropped pamphlets warning Lebanese residents that retaliatory bombing will take place in their area.
5. Israel has not indiscriminately bombed mass areas, but select places where Hezbollah is hiding.

Lewis continues:

“Israel is shooting at Hezbollah, but Israel is also shooting itself in the foot, maybe even in the heart. Hezbollah will not be disarmed, and peace will not come to Israel by recklessly killing innocent people, destroying much of Lebanon’s infrastructure, and driving hundreds of thousands of Lebanese out of their homes.”

So what is Israel supposed to do? Just stand idly by and reason with terrorists?

Why all the anger at the Israeli people, Jim Lewis? Why not direct a little of your indignation to Hezbollah who kills innocent people, destroys Israel’s infrastructure and drives Israelis out of their homes? Israel has dropped pamphlets warning people and taken care to minimize civilian casualties with precision bombing even though Hezbollah indiscriminately rockets Israel neighborhoods.

Condemning those defending themselves against terrorists is not enough. Lewis then compares what Israel is doing to Nazi Germany’s holocaust that killed millions of Jews.

“Our country has a history of sitting on its hands while innocent people die. Case in point: Jews who were slaughtered by Hitler after being denied entrance to the U.S. Once again, we sit on our hands, unwilling to call for a ceasefire, while Lebanese are being killed…”

How dare he? How dare he even suggest one is similar to the other?

How can we ever take Jim Lewis serious again when he makes such offensive comparisons? The holocaust was a brutal, purposeful murder of millions of Jews for the express purpose of wiping out a complete race of people. Israel is defending itself against terrorists that seek to do what Nazi Germany did not. Yes, some Lebanese civilians – not as many as they report – have been killed incidentally, but that cannot be compared to Nazi concentration camps and gas chambers.

Jim Lewis should apologize to the Israeli community for such offensive words. How can he call himself a peacemaker when he writes such inflammatory drivel?

“It’s AIPAC [The American Israel Public Affairs Committee] and the weapons lobby that fuel violence. That became apparent when Mr. Bush authorized a special shipment of bombs to Israel for the attack on Lebanon. These shipments, and our continued financial support of Israel at the expense of Palestinians, and now Lebanese, is [sic] radicalizing the Arab world.”

Jim Lewis agrees with the Egyptian President that the Americans and the Jews force terrorists into their heinous work. Yes, you heard it from Jim Lewis first: we are to blame for the attacks on Israel, and if you continue his logic, even the attacks on September 11.

Of course, Lewis forgets to mention that Palestinian clerics were calling for the destruction of Israel before the AIPAC sent anything to Israel:

* Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Madi, in an official sermon on June 8, 2001, asked Palestinians the rhetorical question of who, by “deceit and falsehood,” renamed ‘Palestine,’ ‘Israel.’ He goes on to assure Palestinians that Muhammad promised Muslims that Israel would be destroyed.
* The Bible is said to be legends and lies, while Israelis are defined as “parasitic worms” that live in a snail’s shell after first killing the snail. On April 17, 2001, Dr. Issam Sissalem said on an educational program, “We will not let anyone live in our shell!” and “The invaders will be erased.”
* Palestinians frequently rewrite Jewish history teaching, for instance, that Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem was “the greatest lie in history by those liars.” The prophets of the Hebrew Bible are said to have no connection to the Jews, but rather to Islam. Every Jewish connection to the Land of Israel is “lies.” This is one example from Dr. Issam Sissalem, from the Islamic University in Gaza and televised on October 8, 2001.
* A child interviewed on Palestinian Authority Television on December 25, 2003 showed that he had learnt his lessons well - there is no such thing as Israel, and Palestinians, with the help of the entire world, should expel all Israelis.
* Over the period of a year (15 times from May 2004 - May 2005), a PA educational program portrayed all of Israel as occupied “Palestine” stolen from Palestinians. The program compares refugees to Holocaust victims by using false images of Palestinians hanging from barbed wire that resemble authentic pictures of Holocaust victims. A young child talks of his “return” by his “blood.” “We will return” is the repeating theme.
* Dr. Ismaeil Al-Fara, a Palestinian academic, expressed the same anticipation of Israel’s eventual destruction on September 2, 2005, describing the joy of the Gaza withdrawal as incomplete until Israel will be destroyed.

It is clear that the Arab world wants Israel destroyed, but somehow in Lewis’s twisted mind the bad guy is the United States who helps a country defend itself.

No matter what the Arab world says about killing Israel, no matter how many suicide bombers blow up Israeli cafes and busses, Lewis says Israel is the brutal one:

“Early-on [sic] in the Bush presidency, he said the United States should withdraw from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because it was hopeless. Colin Powell warned him that a withdrawal would allow Israel to brutalize the Palestinians.”

Despite what is said by Palestinian leaders, Lewis has proof they are peaceful. His source is a Palestinian:

“The word ‘Palestinian,’ unfortunately, has become synonymous with the word ‘terrorist.’ That’s because so few Americans know any Palestinians. As Edward Said has said, ‘The main narrative model that dominates American thinking still seems to be Leon Uris’s 1950 novel Exodus…The citizens of the world’s only superpower have been led to believe that everything Arabs do and are is wasteful, violent, fanatical and anti-Semitic.’”

Quoting a biased Palestinian who tries to spin what his leaders have said is laughable. Who is Lewis going to quote next, Usama bin Laden?

Never knowing when to stop, Jim Lewis compares the innocent civilians who died on September 11 with communist Fidel Castro.

“Perspective is everything. Didn’t we wonder how some Palestinians and Iraqis could dance in the streets when Americans were killed? We called them barbarians and terrorists. Now Cuban-Americans are dancing in the streets at the thought that Castro may die. Do we call them barbarians and terrorists?”

A resolution sponsored by Senator Harry Reid tells us all we need to know about Fidel Castro:

“Whereas in 2002, when members of the Varela Project, a democracy and human rights initiative in Cuba, collected more than 11,000 signatures on a petition calling for a national referendum on democratic reforms in accordance with the Constitution of Cuba, the regime of Fidel Castro orchestrated a constitutional amendment that declared Cuba’s socialist system irrevocable;

“Whereas several human rights groups have estimated that the Government of Cuba is holding hundreds of political prisoners on charges such as dissemination of enemy propaganda, illicit association, clandestine printing, contempt for the authorities (which often means criticism of Castro), and rebellion;

“Whereas, in March 2003, the Government of Cuba began a massive crackdown on leaders of independent labor unions, opposition parties, and the pro-democracy movement that led to the arrest of 80 dissidents;

“Whereas the regime of Fidel Castro has trampled the human rights of journalists, killing 25 and threatening, harassing, or detaining 1,420 in 2002, detaining an additional 27 in the March 2003 crackdown, and holding 120 as political prisoners as of May 2003;

“Whereas on April 11, 2003, the Government of Cuba summarily tried 3 men who hijacked a ferry in an attempt to escape from Cuba in unfair, closed-door trials, after which all 3 were found guilty and executed by firing squad;

“Whereas the Department of State has concluded that Cuba is a state sponsor of terrorism that continues to harbor terrorists and fugitives from the United States, including harboring members of 2 Colombian terrorist organizations, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the National Liberation Army (ELN);

“Whereas since 1959, the regime of Fidel Castro has persecuted more than 100,000 Cubans, of which more than 18,000 either were murdered or have disappeared;”

[You can read the rest of the resolution here]

Cubans who suffered under Castro’s regime and had nothing to do with his speculated death were understandably jubilant. Even though there is documented proof that Castro is a brutal dictator, Jim Lewis holds his life in the same regard as the 3,000 innocents on 9/11.

Remember Lewis’s article next time you see him and his crazies out on the streets. They believe we are to blame for the terrorism, not the terrorists. They believe the terrorists who drug the charred bodies of our brave soldiers through Arab streets, bombed Marines in Beirut, slammed planes into the World Trade Center, and hijacked airplanes are just frustrated at American injustice. They believe that Israel shouldn’t be able to defend itself and in like manner, neither should the United States. They understand the plight of terrorists who blow themselves and innocent civilians up or strap devices on mentally challenged children.

Remember the Patriots for Peace who stand behind the banner of the names of our brave soldiers also stand behind the terrorists.

Excellent article; well researched and well stated. William has the right perspective concerning world events and holds those who spew hate, in the name of peace, accountable for their words and actions. Keep writing William for you are challenging us to think outside the comfortable surroundings of the county and State we live in.

I certainly wish your article could be published in the Mail or Gazette! You have hit the nail on the head–many times over.When people realize that Allah is not God but a god like Baal, and the Muslim faith is evil and bent on killing all who oppose, THEN they may realize that people like Jim Lewis are BLIND LEADING THE BLIND!

Any time Lewis and the pp’s (intentional rendering) (Pathetics for Purulence) have a rally they are easily negated by the local Vets For Victory (http://wvvets.us/). For some reason the media gets every burp from the pp’s, but makes no (or brief) mention of the REAL patriots.

William, my friend, this issue is ten-thousand shades of gray and you and Reverend Lewis seem to always want to turn it into two:

1. Bush is Evil and/or stupid and this is further proof.

2. We must defeat evil and if you don’t get it then you are an idiot, a communist or worse.

If only it were that simple. The only absolute in this matter is that it is an absolute mess.
