Ever since I began this website, there has been controversy. I have been cussed out, threatened, cajoled, harassed, and smeared in public and private. Never one to take subtle hints, I have started a new way to expound on conservative issues and make liberals gnash their teeth through a show called “Fire At Will.”
Fire At Will, www.fireatwill.net, is an online, talk radio style podcast where I do much of what is done here: expound on political news affecting West Virginia. My goal is similar as well: to as truthfully as I know how let the common West Virginian know what is going on in their government.
The show has been in the making for almost 6 months. As I started purchasing equipment and setting things up, my goal from the very beginning was to make it the most professional podcasting show on the Internet. After sinking over one thousand dollars into this, I sincerely believe I’m close.
The editors of the New Oxford American Dictionary declared “podcasting” the 2005 word of the year, defining the term as “a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player.”
Basically, a podcast is an audio file that is published online to be listened to on a website or downloaded. Most podcast listeners (podees?) have a program that subscribes to a podcast and downloads it automatically. The most popular podcast-downloading program is iTunes.
Hopefully the show will grow and find its niche. Right now I do most of the talking and put a few sound clips up as I get the chance. In the future, I will be doing interviews with key West Virginians; once I get the money to buy a $700 piece of equipment, that is.
Please check it out at www.fireatwill.net and let me know what you think.
