West Virginia quarter celebration

West Virginia officially recognized their new quarter with a major celebration on the capitol grounds. Over 800 people attended to purchase the new quarter graced by the New River Gorge Bridge.

This young girl masterfully sang the national anthem, but was too short to see. After the song was over, Manchin picked her up.


State employees paused by their windows to watch the event.


Lincoln said a few words as his wife looked on. He refused to comment on the recent allegation that he signed West Virginia into a state illegally.

Governor Manchin attaches West Virginia’s coin to a map with the previous 34 state’s coins.


A good event is never complete without protestors. These people heckled Manchin as he spoke.
