Charleston’s new minor league baseball team, West Virginia Power, announced their new mascots today.
In an unusual move, they chose five different mascots to represent the ballteam. Instead of following the norm of choosing one, they decided they liked a “family” of mascots better.
It looks good. Pyro is my favorite.
The only problem is the mascots have nothing to do with the logo. The logo features the Capitol’s gold dome with a lightning bolt radiating from the top. The Power’s name comes - according to whoever thought this up - from the the power that this state generates. So why would they use the dome? Is our power in the Capitol? I hope not.
The Gazette has a good article on it, but went on a tangent toward the end about West Virginia Power not picking a West Virginia team to do the designs.
